Ethics for Social Workers (4 Clock Hours)

 

Target Audience: Social workers whose objective is to complete an ethics course based on the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics and related ethical standards. This course does not cover state-specific laws.

  • Note: This course is a shorter version of CEmobile's Ethics for Social Workers (6 Clock Hours)

    Course Description: This course is based on the current version of the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics that was revised in 2008 which addresses the purpose of the NASW Code of Ethics, the ethical principles, and the ethical standards. In addition, this course includes the NASW Standards for Clinical Social Work in Social Work Practice, and NASW Standards and Indicators for Cultural Competence in Social Work Practice.

      Learning Objectives:

      • Describe core values on which social work’s mission is based
      • Summarize the broad ethical principles that reflect the profession’s core values and a set of specific ethical standards that should be used to guide social work practice
      • Describe relevant considerations when professional obligations conflict or ethical uncertainties arise
      • Describe ethical standards to which the general public can hold the social work profession accountable
      • Describe standards that the social work profession itself can use to assess whether social workers have engaged in unethical conduct
      • Apply the key principles in the Standards for Clinical Social Work in Social Work Practice
      • Apply the key principles in the Standards and Indicators for Cultural Competence in Social Work Practice
