Course Description: This course equips family service providers with information and strategies for use in working with mothers who may be depressed. This course includes facts about depression; screening tools for more serious depression; and referrals, resources, and handouts for mothers who are depressed.

Course Author(s) Qualifications:

Dr. Ammerman is Professor of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center within the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and scientific director of Every Child Succeeds. Dr. Ammerman received his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and completed an internship at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is certified in cognitive and behavioral psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Dr. Beardslee is the Academic Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital in Boston, and the Gardner Monks Professor of Child Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He trained in general psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and in child psychiatry and psychiatric research at Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Miranda is Assistant Director of the Center and a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. She is a mental health services researcher who has focused her work on providing mental health care to low-income and minority communities. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from University of Kansas and completed post-doctoral training at University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Perry is Associate Professor, Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development.
