Course Description: This course offers suggestions for the kind of assistance that is available when elderly family members want to continue to live on their own. This course also addresses advance care planning which involves learning about the types of decisions that might need to be made, considering those decisions ahead of time, and then letting others know about preferences, often by putting them into an advance directive. Finally, this course addresses basic legal and financial instruments, such as a will and living trust, which are available to ensure that the person’s late-stage or end-of-life health care and financial decisions are carried out.

Dr. Hori earned a PhD in psychology from the University of California at Riverside. Subsequently, Dr. Hori was employed by an education company in the mental health field for over 18 years. He served as an Educational Consultant and Director of Academic Affairs for this organization. His duties revolved around the mental health field, and included: researching the psychological literature to keep abreast of current clinical topics; writing updates for educational courses; developing new educational courses; and presenting over 200 live workshops for psychologists-in-training.
Finally, Dr. Hori was an Associate-In Professor and Research Assistant at the University of California at Riverside, where he supervised the completion of over 50 research projects in psychology. He is credited with three publications in peer-reviewed journals.
