Course Description: This course explores the prevalence, characteristics, tactics, assessment, psychological and economic impact, victim assistance, and the criminal justice system responses to stalking in the United States.

Learning Objectives:

  • Analyze the assessment of the dangerousness of stalkers
  • Describe the impact of stalking on mental disorders and the costs associated with stalking on the victim and society

Course Author(s) Qualifications:

Dr. Logan is a Professor in the Department of Behavioral Science, College of Medicine and the Center on Drug and Alcohol Research, University of Kentucky. Dr. Logan has authored or co-authored over 130 peer reviewed articles and five books. Dr. Logan has conducted a comprehensive study on the effectiveness of civil protective orders and the costs and cost-benefit of protective orders funded by the National Institute of Justice.

Erica Olsen is a Deputy Director of the Safety Net Project at the National Network to End Domestic Violence. Through the Safety Net Project, Erica works with private industry, state, and federal agencies and international groups to improve safety and privacy for victims in this digital age.

Teri Faragher has numerous publications and presentations to her credit in domestic violence prevention, serves as part-time faculty and a field instructor for the University of Kentucky’s College of Social Work.

New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work

The Education Law and Commissioner’s Regulations allow a LMSW or LCSW to complete no more than one-third of the required hours as self-study in each registration period. This would translate to a limit of 12 hours for a typical 36-month registration period.
A New York State LMSW or LCSW is responsible for complying with New York laws, rules and regulations.
